Characters
" First, find out what your hero wants, then just follow him or her. " - Ray Bradbury.

The Pen. "I just want to write
a Great idea."

Ink : "I just want to
fuel a Great idea."

Two random Bears drawn by the Pen and Ink:
"We just want to direct."

Spiders make
wonderful
characters,
as do
socks.

And there's
always
a story
that brings out
a character's
true self.

Characters can
come from
anywhere . . .

. . . in all
shapes
and
sizes.

Objects make interesting
characters.

. . . and of course,
so do
dragons.

Maybe frogs even?

. . . and fish.

Like the Zen Master Bear who loses his rake and his . . . cool . . .

But characters
are best seen
and heard
in a good story.

Or the story about a very timid girl, named Ava who gets on the wrong bus to go home,

She is way too shy to tell the truth to anybody,
especially the intimidating bus driver named Myrtle.
( Who is actually a nice lady.)

Terribly
embarrassed
that she has
made this mistake,
Ava pretends
to know exactly
where she
is going.

She tries to summon the courage
to do the right thing, but just can't.

So she carries her secret to parts unknown, full of adventure
and new people .

She meets a girl
like herself who is
even more shy and
they become fast friends.
That's when she realized
she wasn't alone.

There were others
along for the ride.
Like an interesting
kid from a farm
of all places . . .

. . . and the two city kids who had funny stuff on
their phones.
Oh ,
and
what about
those two
weird
cats ?

Eventually all her new friends
gave her the courage
to do the right thing.

. . . but she still ended up in Cleveland .
Which wasn't so bad.
Are we having fun
yet?
